Yoga is often known as the “yolking” of body and mind. However, the forces that enliven our yoga practice can extend beyond the body and mind to a third dimension known as your subtle (or energetic) body. In yoga today, chakras are the most recognized representation of the subtle body.
In this workshop, we will bring awareness to the first chakra, the root chakra, or the muladhara chakra in Sanksrit; the base of the spine and pelvic floor serve as roots for the entire body. Using imagery and analogies, we will first describe the anatomical and energetic components of the root chakra. Asanas and pranayamas will be used to deepen and enrich our awareness of the root chakra. Finally, we will weave together the asanas and pranayamas explored during the workshop into a 30 min flow that can be used for daily practice.
