The Investment

Community building and access to wellness for ALL is at the forefront of our mission. We believe that no one should be turned away for lack of funds and that financial status should not be the determining factor for pursuing your practice. Since our founding in 2016, we have been happy to provide reduced rates to our community without financial documentation and no questions asked! Our existence as a Black Owned boutique fitness studio is a bold step toward correcting the whitewashed and exclusionary atmosphere that has traditionally plagued the industry. In an effort to reinforce our commitment to diversity and inclusion in wellness spaces, we have adapted our sliding scale pricing to our Teacher Training Programs.

Our prices are set to reflect the cost of operating our studios and paying our team members fair and competitive wages. Please be mindful that if you choose to purchase this training at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the market rate cost, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility and marginalized communities who have historically been excluded from opportunities such as this. By honestly choosing the price point that is appropriate for you, you are helping to support a local, Black owned/female owned business and ensuring that we can continue to provide health and wellness services to everyone.

Mona Desai

she/her(s)

Raised in the South Asian culture, I became a yoga teacher to promote representation in wellness spaces and help students access yoga's holistic benefits. Rooted in kindness, inclusivity, and community, my classes incorporate meditation, physical postures, and rest, offering a subtle yet empowering practice. Most importantly, I strive to create a welcoming environment for all students.

I received my 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2020 and meditation teaching certificate in 2022. In 2024, I completed a 300-hour teacher training program.

April Lander

she/they

April (she/they) initially discovered Hatha yoga in the early 2000s at their local gym in her home city of Lowell, Massachusetts, and after a brief hiatus, returned to with her mat in 2016 to help heal from postpartum depression. However, she found so much more was awaiting them. The practice of yoga not only helped with the recovery from PPD, but also helped alleviate anxiety, manage her Crohn’s disease, and navigate through the pre and post symptoms of luteal seizures.

April received her 200-hour from Roots Yoga in Burlington, MA, and then her 300-hour certification with Down Under School of Yoga in Brookline, MA. April is also certified in HEALing Yoga levels 1 & 2 (YACEP) from Fluid Yoga/Padme PT, and a certified teacher for the Led Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga via David Swenson.

April loves to explore diverse movements that challenge while soothing the body and the mind- allowing students to find their edge and evolve their practice. She actively promotes teaching students how to dismiss the ego in order to find empowerment in the present. She is a firm believer in inclusivity, equality, and bringing the practice of yoga to all. Ensuring students feel safe and supported in class is the highest priority.

Marina Hartnett

Marina is a 500hr certified yoga teacher who has been joyfully teaching yoga for more than ten years to serve those in need of its benefits for the physical, emotional, mental, and energetic bodies.

Her intention in her classes is to inspire and share with others the experience of yoga through a beginner’s mind where every new step can be an opportunity of learning and growth. Some of her last in-depth trainings and retreats were at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in the Berkshires, includingthe 5 Elements Yoga and Slow Yoga & Qigong.

Aside from practicing and teaching yoga classes and workshops around the North Shore and in other areas of the globe, such as Brazil, she loves to hike and ride her bike to explore the beauty of nature all around us.

Lily Hanlon

she/her

Lily discovered the asana practice in 2013 as not only a way to help alleviate ankle pain from the rigors of high-impact exercise, but also a space for self-study while pursuing an undergraduate degree. As a lover of fitness—and as someone who approaches movement as a celebration of what one’s mind and body can do—Lily knew right away that yoga would be a never-ending practice of gratitude and strength.

After eight years of practicing—and after serving as a work-study in a local Brookline, MA studio—Lily completed Boston Yoga School’s 200-hour certification under Ame Wren and Ben Chused. As a forever student, she is inspired by instructors, like Laura Ahrens, who teach yoga off the mat — as a way to spread compassion.

By offering many posture variations and taking a lighthearted approach to cuing, Lily hopes that each student will feel empowered to explore their own practice for their person – and laugh when falling in those tricky balancing poses! She invites all students to challenge themselves, celebrate their strength, and build community.

Above all else, Lily aspires to create a space that is inclusive and accessible for all.
